Stainless Steel, Resin – Bobbin Lace
20” H x 9” W x 4” D
2025
One of my first crescents. I made a flat piece of lace using 16th century Torchon Ground stitches with 40 strands of twisted stainless steel wire, each 40” to 80” long. I then sewed the lace to a stainless steel armature that I had shaped to match the outside curve of the crescent, enabling an open, flowing 3-dimensional form. I twisted the wire ends together and wove them into the lace, ornamenting the surface with filigreed spiral motifs.
